Alphabet Fun: 5 Activities + Freebies (And Growing!)
Learning the alphabet can be so much fun when kids get to explore letters through play, art and hands-on activities! I’ve put together a growing bundle of alphabet practice activities that’s perfect for preschool and kindergarten learners.
Right now, there are 5 activities and I’ll be adding more over time, so this blog will keep growing with fresh ideas. Plus, there are freebies included so you can try out some activities right away!
Alphabet Dab Pages (No-Prep!)
Any activity with bingo daubers is always a hit in my classroom! These pages let kids use dot markers, stamps or stickers to identify and mark letters while building letter recognition and hand-eye coordination.
Letter Art
This one was a favorite with my kids! They loved getting creative by decorating letters with different materials. The pages are really versatile! They can be used for letter art, coloring, playdough mats, paper-tearing crafts or even a collaborative class alphabet book. This fun activity lets students practice fine motor skills while reinforcing letter recognition.
I’ve also included an editable version, so you can add your own text and make it your own!
Letter Formation with Real Photos
These mats pair uppercase and lowercase letters with real-life photos of items that start with that letter. Students trace the letters with playdough, any small manipulatives (e.g. pom-poms, counters, mini erasers, buttons, flat marbles) or whiteboard marker while connecting them to familiar objects. It’s a great way to make learning hands-on and engaging!
The mats can also be displayed as alphabet posters for visual reinforcement in the classroom.
Alphabet Sound Watches (Freebie!)
Students get to color and wear the letters on their wrists while practicing the sounds with these alphabet watches! This turns letter sound practice into an interactive experience.

Alphabet Handwriting Practice Pages
These pages are perfect for early writers! There are two differentiated options. Students can either trace and write the letters or just trace them on the guided lines. These worksheets help them practice proper letter formation.
Alphabet Puzzle Matching Cards (Freebie!)
Students match the uppercase and lowercase letters, which makes learning letter recognition hands-on and interactive. The pieces fit together like a puzzle so kids can see the connection between the letters.
There’s also a version with just the letters so students can match the other half of each letter. This adds a little extra challenge and keeps the activity engaging while reinforcing letter recognition.

Alphabet Playdough Mats
Playdough always makes learning extra fun! Students form letters on these mats with playdough, which strengthens fine motor skills and helps them remember letter shapes.
The mats can also be used with other manipulatives like pom-poms, magnetic chips, or wands, so there’s plenty of variety to keep kids engaged.
These 5 activities are just the beginning! This growing bundle of alphabet activities will continue to expand, so make sure to bookmark this page and check back from time to time for new ideas and freebies.
All the activities shown here (minus the frebeies) are part of my bigger pack! It is a really great deal as a growing bundle! It is currently just $5 and you will get all future activities added at no extra cost.
